Starting, growing, and sustaining a new worshiping community is never a solo job. It requires the collaborative effort of individuals with diverse gifts and talents. The Missional Summit is designed for your entire NWC leadership team to be equipped together.

This two-day event provides NWC teams with training in the areas of missional theology and practice, leadership and team development using CliftonStrengths, and facilitated discernment for your NWC’s next steps. At whatever juncture your NWC is at, the Missional Summit can bring clarity to your vision and plan, and catalyze your team’s individual and collective leadership.

The conference offers time for faithful leaders longing for church revitalization to learn alongside hopeful church planters taking big risks for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are in this work together, but our work is not the same. That’s why participants will share communal worship and keynotes together but will also have select learning opportunities from either 1001 New Worshiping Communities or Vital Congregations.

Detroit Regional Gathering

We are excited to be coming to Detroit for a Regional Gathering. On Friday we will be hosting an Exploring Missional Leadership event and on Saturday a Regional Gathering.

Exploring Missional Leadership is a daylong introduction to the skills and competencies necessary to start a new worshiping community. Attending an EML can serve as a training opportunity for NWC leadership teams, mid council leaders and commissions, and individuals in the early stages of discerning a call to start a new worshiping community. Contact Michael Gehrling for more information at Michael.gehrling@pcusa.org.

Our Regional Gathering is a daylong training for those that are interested or engaged in NWC's. Joining us in Detroit is Rev. Lindsey Armstrong (Greater Atlanta Presbytery) who oversees and resources church planting in their presbytery. Also with us is Rev. Ayana Teter (Pittsburgh Presbytery) who currently serves as the Director of Vocation for Pittsburgh Seminary. Both are serve as coaches and help guide their presbyteries with New Worshiping Communities. For more information contact Sean Chow at Sean.chow@pcusa.org

The event is free and includes lunch.
