Your Guide

A faithful group has been praying for over the past five years for the Lord of the harvest to send workers into the harvest field (Luke 10:2). This movement of God’s people has started slowly but has gained momentum. We are grateful that you are considering being part of this exciting movement.

The work of launching and supporting new worshiping communities in the PC(USA) is a partnership shared by the Presbyterian Mission Agency, synods and presbyteries, and local congregations who work together to discern the places in our communities where God is calling us to join the work of doing a new thing and to identify, equip, and support the leaders who will make this ministry their own.

Know that you are not alone in this process of prayerfully considering starting a new worshiping community. You are prayed for.

Step 1: Discerning

Exploring the possibility of becoming a new worshiping community. Part of discerning is understanding the theological basis of being missional and incarnation in the community. This is followed by evaluating the role in which you undertake.

Step 2: Starting

The beginning stages of a new worshiping community. Starting does not start with worship. It takes an understanding of the neighborhood and a plan. Through the starting stages you will pray for the neighborhood, identity your values/ vision, and being to experiment.
